Awaken to Bliss and Truth

January 25th, 2009 No comments

By: lynn gomez
****By meditating, we develop a mental equilibrium, a balanced mind that is happy all the time, rather than an unbalanced mind that bounces between the extremes of excitement and despondency.

Quiet your mind - that’s primary - so that you can tap into the true flow of life. It is a reaching up into what goes beyond this life, this ego, this spot of time and space.

Take a breath slowly, counting to eight. Hold the breath for the same eight counts while concentrating your attention at the point between the eyebrows. Now exhale slowly to the same count of eight. Repeat three to six times.

Inhale silently, and exhale “shh.” Then inhale again silently, and exhale “mmm.” Repeat this process, allowing it to draw you deeper and deeper into the “mmm” sound.

In order to achieve a meditative state you must return the awareness back to the sensation of the breath again and again. As the mind wanders, gently guide its attention back to the breath, don’t judge yourself.

Go deep within yourself, and connect with your inner vitality. Be compassionate with yourself. Allow the mind to be still - through this stillness, you will eventually transcend the mind and fully experience consciousness, your own true nature. This brings you to a state of bliss and truth. TO FULLY AWAKEN!

Best Acne Skin Care Treatment

January 23rd, 2009 No comments

By: Ricky Lim
If like many others you are desperate to get your acne treated in order to regain the skin you once had then using an acne skin care treatment is essential to the process. By reading through the tips provided below you should soon be back on the road to have that beautiful skin you had before you suffered from acne.

However it is important that first of all you know what acne is and then you will be able to treat it much better. A person suffers from acne because their sebaceous glands begin to produce too much oil and when combined with dead skin cells a person’s pores will then become blocked. As the pores are blocked they are unable to breathe correctly and then bacteria sets in and so blackheads and whiteheads will begin to erupt on the person’s skin.

In order to clean your face effectively whilst treating acne of any form you should not scrub it but rather gently wash it using a mild anti-bacterial soap or lotion.

Next you need to look at what you are eating and drinking. Many people do not realize this but what they eat and drink seriously affects their acne further. Therefore you should drink lots of fresh water each day. Not only will it help to remove all those unwanted toxins (which make a person’s acne worse) from the body but it is probably the most inexpensive form of acne skin care treatment.

You should also eat vegetables which contain high amounts of Vitamin A and will normally be bright orange or yellow or green in color. By eating plenty of these vegetables such as carrots, sweet corn and broccoli, cabbage etc, it will help you achieve a much better complexion on your skin.

Besides keeping the above points in mind, you should also consult your doctor.
They will be able to prescribe acne skin care treatment medications that you will not be able to find or purchase elsewhere. But as well as using the medication provided by your doctor you should look more closely at your dietary habits and make the necessary changes and do not forget to drink plenty of fresh water also.

By taking these steps in your acne skin care treatment program you should be on the road to seeing the results of your work in the mirror in a very short period of time.

7 Tips for healthier living

By: Theo Swan
Sleep

We all need our beauty sleep to feel sharp and well, but getting enough sleep on regular hours are much more important than that. Many body functions rely on regularity, and your sleeping hours are an important part of the schedule. Different people have different needs, but most require 7-8 hours sleep to be fully functional. One or a few days with less sleep is fine, but if you loose out on those precious hours, it will affect you in the long run.

Eating

What and when you eat is essential for your health. Eating much fast food, candy, too much meat or sugar can and will affect your health. Similar to sleeping, regularity is very important when it comes to eating. Regular meals will, besides keeping you sharp much longer, actually help you loose weight. No more sudden dips in blood sugar, causing you to eat that candy bar.

Nutrition

Eating healthy comes with other advantages, but for those who doesnt adding some greens to your diet will help you stay young and healthy. Greens with bright colors (red, orange, green and yellow) are packed with good vitamins and minerals of all kinds. If you feel you dont get enough greens, try to find some vitamin supplements.

Emotions

Your emotions are an important part of you and your health. Keeping them tucked inside you can cause serious stress symptoms later in life. The body needs to release its tension some, if you do not let it it will backfire. Everyone knows laughter prolongs your life, but few know crying to be equally important. An easy way to get in touch with your feelings or at least pretend you are is to watch movies. Sad, exiting or funny; it doesnt matter. The body will respond to those emotions in a similar way it would to true feelings. So, make it part of your daily routine to watch a funny video.

Exercise

This has been talked about for ever. We all know exercise is good for you in so many ways. Yet many people still sit around all day, doing nothing. This is perhaps the biggest threat to public health; Lack of exercise. You do not need to go to the gym twice a week to be exercising, just getting up and moving a bit will go a long way. Finding something fun yet physically challenging is the best way of ensuring enough exercise. If its fun, its easy and who knows, you might get some laughter out of it.

Vacation

Travel as much as you can afford. There are few things more relaxing than vacations, and relaxation is just what the doctor ordered. When you relax, your body relaxes and you give it a great opportunity to mend itself.

Stop dieting

If you have a serious weight problem, seek professional help. People who are constantly dieting rarely get enough vitamins, minerals OR energy for the body to recover. There are ways of loosing weight without eating shady diet pills or starving yourself.

Top Aromatherapy Recipes For Insomnia

January 18th, 2009 No comments

By: George Kakaris
It is well know that Aromatherapy can be beneficial for those who suffer from several mental disorders. The essential oils effectiveness comes through their calming and relaxing properties that can soothe stressed mind, unwind tired body and generally lull and overcome insomnia. Before suggesting some tips and aromatherapy recipes, read what exactly insomnia is and how it incommodes health and life.

The term insomnia describes the inability to have satisfactory quantity of sleep. It is also called sleeplessness and it is a very common condition that concerns many people. It is believed that over of 20% of world population suffer from insomnia. If you cannot easily fall asleep or you cannot remain asleep or you wake up very early in morning, then you probably are one of them. Health bibliography classes sleeplessness in transient (which lasts no more a week), short-term (which last no more than a month) and long-term or chronic (which lasts more than a month) which is the most dangerous for health and wellness.

The causes of sleeplessness are generally associated with upsetting situations and stress. Moreover, other causes of insomnia are: caffeine, nicotine and alcohol consumption, snoring, asthma and other breathing disorders, sleep schedule changes, bad environmental conditions (too much noise or light), behavioural psychiatric factors such as anxiety and depression. At last, there are several cases that someone cannot fall asleep because of insomnia phobia. That is to describe the fear of not being able to fall asleep!

Sleep loss affects quality of life and wellbeing. Those who have been experiencing sleeplessness symptoms for more than a month are likely to become more nervous, irritable and tired. As a result, they cannot concentrate easily and they have poor memory. What is more, they increase the risk of car or work accidents and finally they may develop psychiatric and physical diseases, like chronic depression and immune disorders.

You can help yourself to overcome insomnia by following some everyday tips. Fist of all, try to stay detached from stressful and overexciting situations. Adopt a regular bedtime routine and make your bedroom as cosy and quiet as you can. Avoid caffeine, alcohol and nicotine consumption, especially close to bedtime. It is believed that diet rich in calcium, magnesium, and B6 vitamin might be helpful. A cup of chamomile tea before going to sleep it is recommended because it has natural sedative effect.

As mentioned before, aromatherapy tips can also be beneficial to treat sleeplessness and provide a restful relaxing deep sleep. The most effective essential oils that are used for insomnia cure are: Lavender, Marjoram, Chamomile, Rose and Sandalwood.

Aromatherapy burners or diffusers can be used in order to create a soothing atmosphere in your bedroom that helps you relax. Aromatherapy candles can scent any room and have positive effect, too. Moreover, you can add 1 or 2 drops of your favourite oil to 1 litre of hot water in a bowl and put your nose over the bowl (approximately 50 cm away for safety reasons) and inhale the steam.

Sprinkled pillows and handkerchief is another way to aim your sleep. Lay over the scented pillows and get the scented whiff and as a result, you will relax, fall asleep more easily and have a deeper sleep. Another relaxing technique that reduces insomnia symptoms is Aromatherapy massage. Essential oils are never used undiluted but in combination with appropriate base oils. Gently rub of body and head can calm nervous system and provide a pleasant experience.

Finally, my favourite relaxing, sedative aromatherapy use is aromatherapy bath. Add 3 drops of lavender oil, 1 drop of chamomile oil and 1 drop of Ylang Ylang oil directly to bathwater and stir them to disperse. Stay in bathwater for 15 minutes in order the natural calming properties of the essential oils to have time to effect and unwind body and mind. After bath, go directly to bed and probably you will fall asleep without any delay and will enjoy a delightful relaxing deep sleep untill morning.

How Cystic Acne Treatment Can Cure Acne

January 16th, 2009 No comments

By: Ricky Lim
Unfortunately if a person is suffering from cystic acne and needs treating, it can in some cases actually be resistant to the kind of cystic acne treatments that are available. For some people using a cystic acne treatment, they may find that they suffer from certain side effects which can often be just as upsetting to the person as the skin condition itself.

There are some things that they should be aware of before they start any course of treatment for cystic acne.

As with the other forms of acne, the cause of cystic acne is caused by a person’s glands producing too much oil in their skin. Currently there are no definitive ways of curing this particular kind of skin condition and the ways in which current treatments work still needs to be understood fully.

When it comes to actually treating this form of acne it can be extremely difficult especially if the condition is severe. Often cystic acne is resistant to many topical medications as well as some of the more commonly used ones. Today the most common way of treating this particular form of acne is through the use of either accutane or isotretinoin. But be warned you may experience some kinds of side effects during the course of your treatment and below, we provide you with some tips to help ensure that your cystic acne treatment does not end up leaving you with too many side effects as well.

Accutane can actually dry your skin out and this may result in your lips becoming chapped and your eyes drying out. So always ensure that you have some lip balm with you throughout your course of treatment. If you wear contact lenses then you may find it easier to wear your glasses rather than contact lenses during the treatment.

This particular treatment for cystic acne will also make a person’s muscles ache. By carrying out gentle exercises and also taking plenty of rest on a regular basis will help prevent this particular side effect from becoming any worse.

Although cystic acne treatment can lead to certain side effects two of which we have mentioned above however many patients do find that once they have completed their course of treatment, their acne problems do subside. So if you are looking for a way to treat cystic acne and is willing to make the effort and live with the side effects for the time whilst being treated the results will be worth all the effort that you take.

Stress and Insomnia

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: Jeff Austin
The dictionary defines “stress” as: “A mentally or emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition occurring in response to adverse external influences and capable of affecting physical health, usually characterized by increased heart rate, a rise in blood pressure, muscular tension, irritability, and depression.”

That is a pretty good description of how we feel on those nights when we are having a good case of insomnia, isn’t it?

Stress is a sort of catch-all term, though. There are degrees of stress, and all of the various degrees of stress can and do cause some degree of insomnia. For example, if you have an important test at school tomorrow, you may feel some degree of stress and it might take you an hour or more to finally fall asleep. On the other hand, if you have just been fired from your job, the stress (and the insomnia) could last for many days or weeks. Both situations are stressful but one is more stressful than the other, and the degree of insomnia is relative.

Life comes with a set of problems. It doesn’t matter how old you are, whether you are of the male or female persuasion, or what your financial status is, you are going to have a set of problems and those problems will cause stress. It’s just life. How we deal with the stressful situations that life throws at us is the determining factor of how deeply the stress affects our waking as well as our sleeping hours.

There isn’t any sure-fire cure for stress. If anybody ever finds one, they will become the richest person on the planet, but it really isn’t very likely to happen. There are drugs, of course, to relieve stress but the drugs themselves can cause as many problems as the stress that they are meant to relieve.

No matter how stressful your day has been, if you can arrange for a full hour of quiet time before you try to go to sleep, you are much more likely to fall asleep quickly and not suffer through a night of insomnia.

Let’s Talk Sleep - As In Getting Some

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: Jeff Austin
From the very first day of life to our very last day of life, sleeping occupies an inordinate amount of time that we spend on this planet. In fact, if you take a look at the entire average lifespan, you will soon begin to realize that you will spend the equivalent of 27 years of your life with sleep. Sort of makes you begin to feel a bit like Rip Van Winkle doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, the sleep cycle is such a natural thing that occurs in your life that you actually don’t give it very much thought until something goes wrong. It is all those nights when sleep doesn’t come and you realize how tired you are the next morning, and suddenly it seems an appropriate time to talk about sleep. It is when you realize that you haven’t had enough sleep that it most often begins to bother you the most.

There are a variety of details when it comes to a healthy sleep pattern. Many people focus on the issues of why you sleep in the first place, how much sleep you should be getting each and every night, where you should sleep, how to create the best sleep environment, why you sleep too much, and even why you don’t sleep enough. Wow! If only you could answer all of those questions then my guess is you would never have another sleepless night.

Sleep is a necessary part of life. Yes, it is true that some people need less sleep than others; however, everyone needs sleep. After all, if sleep werent such an important part of your health, then you certainly wouldn’t spend 27 years of your life sleeping it away. Sleep is necessary in order for you to experience restoration of our body at night. It allows for you to rest your mind and soul. Sleep can rejuvenate both the mind, soul, and spirit.

The earliest researchers decided that during deep sleep, or REM (Rapid Eye Movement), the body entered alight coma like state during which very little activity in the body took place. But, as technology advanced and researchers learned more they began to focus on the activity of the brain during sleep. This research revealed that the brain activity actually did not stop during the state of deep sleep. In fact, brain activity was noted to be quite organized and a rather active. Researchers also discovered that during sleep the brain carried out several physiological processes.

Sleep allows us to recharge physically after an activity filled day. However, there are many people who feel very strongly that the amount of time we spend sleeping in our life is simply a waste of time. This group of folks believes that there are ways in which you can train yourself to get by on a significantly reduced amount of sleep.

While it is certainly okay if you miss a night or two of your usual with full night of sleep, you may notice that you have an increase in irritability, a decrease in function, and even a decrease in mental sharpness if you have been unable to obtain a full night of sleep. It is also important to remember that while this may be okay for a night or two, if this pattern continues it can actually put you at risk. For instance if you attempt to drive a car while you are feeling sleepy, you can put your self and others at risk.

So, it is easy to understand that sleep is a necessary part of everyday life. What we still need more research on are the unanswered questions such as how much, how much is too much, creating the perfect sleep environment, and even are we sleeping too much of our life away. Yes, the fact that we need sleep is not something that is going to go under the rug. You simply must decide how much sleep is just right for you.

Insomnia and Fatigue

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: Jeff Austin
The question of insomnia and fatigue is much like the question of the chicken and the egg. Which came first? Have you ever found yourself being just too tired to sleep? I have, but I don’t think that it was really that I was too tired to sleep. I think it was more like I was too wound up to sleep.

Physical exhaustion is no guarantee that sleep will happen. Sleep isn’t just a physical state. Sleep is actually a mental state that causes a physical state.

When we sleep, we become unconscious. There are many things that can cause people to become unconsciousa hard blow to the head, being given an anesthetic, or too much alcohol or drug consumption. Any of these things can cause us to become temporarily unconscious.

Sleep, however, must be voluntary. We have to be willing both physically as well as mentally to go to sleep. Nobody can force you to go to sleep unless they conk you on the head or slip you a Mickey.

There are physical disorders that can cause fatigue no matter how much or how little sleep the person gets. One such condition is called “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,” and when this condition is present, the person is physically exhausted all of the time but still unable to sleep regularly or long enough.

There are many treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). There are drugs, or course, as well as other treatments. Exercise has proven to be an effective treatment. Additionally, there are herbal treatments that some people say are very effective, and psychotherapy has proven to be helpful in some cases. Acupuncture and hypnosis are also recognized treatments for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

The bottom line is that if you are constantly exhausted but still unable to sleep, you really should see your doctor.

Can your Snoring Be Treated with Dental Appliances?

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: Renee A Muller
There are many reasons for sleep deprivation, especially with the on going demands of endless busy schedules. With all of the many reasons for sleep deprivation to be happening in your life, could snoring be one of them?
Yes, as more studies are being conducted on snoring, sleep deprivation has been concluded to be one of the major side effects for the snorer and the bed partner.

There are now direct connections between habitual snorers to exhibit various levels of sleep deprivation, and for those who share their beds have known how their snoring partner is depriving them of a decent night’s sleep. Sleep deprived from snoring on a regular basis, people are putting their own lives at risk and the lives of others, because of the daily results concurring from sleep deprivation.

Some people who snore on a regular basis may understand how their snoring affects their partner, but may not truly realize how bad their snoring is for their own health. Since people snore for different reasons, finding the exact reason to of your snoring is a good way to permanently solve your snoring problem. But the direct cause may not be all that easy or possible to do. To reduce the intensity of snoring you may have to find the right method that works for you, even if you are not able to know the direct cause in the end.

If you can rule out the simple reasons of certain bad habits like smoking, drinking, medications and being over weight, then you may go on to changing sleeping positions. It is known that sleeping throughout the night on your side, a raised top end of the bed and special pillows to properly keep your throat and nose connecting passage way clear, can relieve snoring problems. If you are having no success after trying these methods then you may be a good candidate for trying out anti-snoring dental appliances.

The other term for anti-snoring mouthpiece devices is mandibular advancement splints. They are designed to slightly move the lower jaw and the tongue slightly forward at the same time, to make a clearer breathing passage throughout the night. Dental appliances should be able to fit properly by a dental snoring specialist or you can purchase over-the-counter dental appliances, but they must be individually fitted at the proper setting. The major drawback is that if they are not set properly, the joints of the jaws will become very painful and the device becomes useless in stopping snoring anyways.

In case you have tried and tested these anti-snoring mouthpiece devices and found them to be unsuccessful, you can try some clinically tested anti snoring remedies that have no registered side effects.
