How to Restore Your Confidence with Acne Clinics

January 30th, 2009 2 comments

By: Darrin Reservitz
For many people the battle against acne is an easy one. They are able to make a quick trip to the pharmacy or local store and pick up Neutrogena multi vitamin acne treatment or any other over the counter acne treatment and be done with it. But dealing with acne is not that easy for some people. Those who struggle with severe acne tend to go up the ranks of treatment to prescription drugs then seek the help of acne clinics.

If you have tried everything from homemade acne treatments such as honey and apple masks, as well as most of the over the counter items that you’ve found on the store shelves, it may be time to call in a little extra help in your fight against the outbreaks. While your general doctor may be able to offer a prescription or two, often those don’t work well on severe acne cases, and you need to see professionals in this arena.

At acne clinics, acne is what the deal with. That’s it. That means they have seen more cases of severe acne than any general doctor would have, and also have tried more ways to treat acne, and found more successful ways, than general doctors.

For most people who visit acne clinics, they will be given a multi-faceted approach to beating their acne problem. This differs from the human intuition to try one thing at a time then move to the next when it doesn’t work.

Acne clinics usually battle acne from a number of different angles”

Medicines
Lasers
Restoration
Ongoing Skin Care

Medicines - The first approach acne clinics utilize is medicines. Instead of one medicine at a time, they often offer a 2-tiered approach. The first medication will deal with the topical problems of oily skin and killing the bacteria on the surface that are causing the acne outbreaks. The second medication is an internal attack on the acne causing agents inside your body.

Lasers - Advances in technology have become advances in treatment at today’s acne clinics. Using a laser on acne prone areas, the glands that are over-producing oil, encouraging acne outbreaks, are controlled. Additionally the heat of the laser can help in killing off acne-causing bacteria.

Restoration - Eventually you will be at the top of your uphill battle against acne, but probably still have scars and blemishes from those old outbreaks. This is where restoration comes in. Acne clinics are experienced in the methods to restore your skin to look clear again.

Ongoing Skin Care - After all the work you have put in to get your skin back to the way you remember it before acne struck, you want to be able to keep it that way. Acne clinics often offer education in ongoing skin care as well as facial therapies that you can receive at the facility to keep your skin acne-free in the years to come.

Unlike the old days when those with severe cases of acne had to live with the consequences, today’s acne clinics have a number of new tools at their disposal to help you gain the upper hand over your acne problem and remove it from your life.

7 Tips on Maintaining Acne Free Skin

January 29th, 2009 5 comments

By: Roberto Bell
Having that nasty zit is sometimes quite annoying. In fact, it is a great factor on suffering low self-esteem particularly on young people whose main focus at puberty is the physical attribute. Preventing acne breakout is not a piece of cake that is why even if you know everything about acne control, the acne still shows up every now and then. The lack of time to maintain acne free regimen daily contributes to the breakout. So how do you maintain your acne free skin? Heres how:

1. Do not prick the acne affected area. Touching it with bare hands can cause further irritation. Unclean hands carry undesirable microorganism that can cause acne. So it is rather safe to keep your hands or any other object from your face to impede the inflammation of the acne and scarring of the skin as well.

2. Avoid using oil-based products on your hair. Guys and girls wear hair products to improve their appearance. Dermatologist might agree that the products are safe on the scalp however, this chemical-laden beauty products slide down to your face as you sweat out. The fluids goes down to the acne hence aggravate the already affected area of the skin.

3. Minimize the use of cosmetics over the pimple. It is alarming to know that although beauty products can conceal your pimple break out, it increases the risk of infection. The combination of the harsh compounds on your foundation makes up and bacteria that come with the sponge (if the foundation you are using is not newly opened) exacerbate the acne. If your job requires you to wear make up, you should avoid those generic brand make up. Some generic brands of make up do not mention the harsh chemicals that are present in the product.

4. If you are using alcohol-based and oil-based facial wash or toner, taking a break will somehow minimize the inflammation of the skin.

5. Avoid getting anything that might contain microorganism to touch your face. These include your unmanaged hair, dirty handkerchief, towels and even pillow. The only way to control the transfer of organism to your face from the material of origin is to always keep your hair in a bun or use a hair band that will keep it in place away from your face, a fresh pillowcase for your cushion, and clean towel and handkerchief to wipe your face.

6. An over-the-counter ointment can be bought from your local drugstore. A topical cream or ointment containing benzoyl peroxide is your best bet to vanish that undesired acne. Some dermatologist recommends tretinoin-based products cream over the benzoyl peroxide because of irritant threat on the peroxide content. Depending on how sensitive the skin is, you can choose from the two.

7. If the acne is severe, a visit to your dermatologist is needed. The dermatologist will prescribe oral antibiotic to take at a certain period of time. Or if applies, an adapalene gel will be prescribed by the dermatologist for you to use for time duration. Close monitoring of the medication is needed since like other prescription-required medicines, it might trigger unknown allergies.

How to Prevent Acne from Appearing

January 29th, 2009 No comments

By: IC
Acne is an affection that occurs in most of the teenagers and should be properly treated so that the affected person could regain its confidence back and live normally. In order to avoid Acne from spreading or to prevent it from reappearing teenagers should follow some tips.

First of all those who have problems with Acne should be careful what face cleanser they use. It is best to avoid alcohol lotions or any soap based cleansers that might dry your skin too much. Most of the teenagers think that if they use a lotion that dries their skin the pimples will not appear any more. This is a solution only for the moment as the sebaceous glands in the skin will be stimulated by the dryness on the skin and will produce more and more sebum that will end up clogging pores again. Instead of using products that dry your skin try using gentle oil free and soap free cleansers. Most of all are found as face washing gels or creams.

In winter it is perfectly normal to use a cream for the face skin, but avoid using a fat cream, just use a cold cream. Nowadays the cosmetic industry has perfected itself and can offer care products for Acne skin. You can find there creams that will protect you skin against wind, rain and cold but it will also protect is against Acne.

Sun is good for the Acne skin but not between 10 am and 4 pm. Take a sun bath in the morning for half an hour or before sunset. The sun is not just going to cover up the spots Acne has given you but it will also heal your skin faster.

When buying a sun protection cream read what it is written on the label of the product. If it contains PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) then do not buy it as it might clog up your pores and make Acne worse.

Avoid sweating too much or spending too much time in a wet environment as skin problems might get worse and Acne can appear.

Also, alimentary supplements that contain iodine should be moderately taken as they might cause pimples. There are some supplements you can use to prevent Acne from coming back: vitamin A supplements. You can find vitamin A in carrots, eggs, spinach and squash butternut.

If a pimple has appeared on the face apply tea tree oil on it once or twice a day with a cotton wool. This way you will prevent it from spreading to other skin areas and you will control its healing.

Avoid the contact of your hair with the face, especially if you have an oily hair. Also keep your hand away from the face as you can bring germs to it and then pimples will form. If you like using hair gel or mousse and you have little pimples on the forehead do not use the hair products for a few weeks and see if there is any change in the aspect on your face skin.

What Triggers Rosacea

January 27th, 2009 No comments

By: Lincoln
There is an estimated 15 million people who suffer with rosacea and its effects which can also include irritation of the eyes. Some of the symptoms of rosacea can include inflamed skin and red lines that are a result of swollen blood vessels below the skin. If you get rosacea of the eyes it can give you a look like you have a bad hang over from a night on the town.

Although rosacea is not understood by many people outside of the medical community it is important to know that certain things can cause rosacea to worsen. Many of the triggers will not affect everybody so you must take note to the particular things that have the most effect on you. When you can pinpoint what causes your rosacea to get worse make a note of it and stay away from it.

Make sure that you take note of the foods that you eat and keep a log if you find something that makes your rosacea flare up. The foods and beverages that are often rosacea triggers include spicy foods, chocolate, cheese, yogurt, soy sauce, vanilla extract, citrus fruits, egg plant, liver, yeast extracts, red wine, beer, whiskey, vodka, bourbon, gin, hot cider, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.

High heat is also a known trigger and if you find yourself in extreme heat you should try to get out of it as soon as you can. Although a good steam can be relaxing if you suffer from rosacea than avoiding a Jacuzzi or a steam bath is probably a good idea. In the same breath excessive cold can also cause flare ups along with high winds.

Rosacea can be controlled but without any know cure to the disease you should monitor your situation to make sure that you do not make the condition worse.

Best Acne Skin Care Treatment

January 23rd, 2009 No comments

By: Ricky Lim
If like many others you are desperate to get your acne treated in order to regain the skin you once had then using an acne skin care treatment is essential to the process. By reading through the tips provided below you should soon be back on the road to have that beautiful skin you had before you suffered from acne.

However it is important that first of all you know what acne is and then you will be able to treat it much better. A person suffers from acne because their sebaceous glands begin to produce too much oil and when combined with dead skin cells a person’s pores will then become blocked. As the pores are blocked they are unable to breathe correctly and then bacteria sets in and so blackheads and whiteheads will begin to erupt on the person’s skin.

In order to clean your face effectively whilst treating acne of any form you should not scrub it but rather gently wash it using a mild anti-bacterial soap or lotion.

Next you need to look at what you are eating and drinking. Many people do not realize this but what they eat and drink seriously affects their acne further. Therefore you should drink lots of fresh water each day. Not only will it help to remove all those unwanted toxins (which make a person’s acne worse) from the body but it is probably the most inexpensive form of acne skin care treatment.

You should also eat vegetables which contain high amounts of Vitamin A and will normally be bright orange or yellow or green in color. By eating plenty of these vegetables such as carrots, sweet corn and broccoli, cabbage etc, it will help you achieve a much better complexion on your skin.

Besides keeping the above points in mind, you should also consult your doctor.
They will be able to prescribe acne skin care treatment medications that you will not be able to find or purchase elsewhere. But as well as using the medication provided by your doctor you should look more closely at your dietary habits and make the necessary changes and do not forget to drink plenty of fresh water also.

By taking these steps in your acne skin care treatment program you should be on the road to seeing the results of your work in the mirror in a very short period of time.

Skin care with water

January 23rd, 2009 No comments

By: S.F. Imtiaz143 S.F. Imtiaz143
No doubt that all living things need water to stay alive. As humans, chiefly our bodies are made up of water so our body and skin need plenty of water for maintenance. Water is also the single most important element that your skin needs to stay healthy. Our skin is comprised of 90% water. And so without the right amount of water to keep that level, the skin tends to be unhealthy and dry. In fact, dryness does not affect the skin alone, but the rest of the body as well, including the vital organs like kidneys and lungs. Water plays a big role in taking care of your skin. It is surprising that why does water wrinkle your skin? This is because water has certain elements that react to human skin.

You might have heard a number of skincare experts saying that drinking water for your skin would help a lot. This is quite true. Water is indeed essential to a beautiful skin. And much of it is because of the very nature of water. The main effects of water on our skin are it stimulates the flow of blood, fluids, and the necessary elements inside our body. Moreover, it also controls and regulates the skin’s natural balance. When water is warm, it has the power to hydrate, revitalize, detoxify, and oxygenate the skin. Warm water also gets rid of blackheads and makes large pores smaller. Drinking water makes the body more relaxed and revitalized. It also replaces the moisture lost due to everyday activities. Simply put, these are all the benefits of drinking water for skin.

Five basic needs of our skin are fulfilled by water.

Hydration: Water provides moisture, which increases skins flexibility and helps with circulation.

Cleansing: Water helps to remove dead skin cells, dirt and environmental toxins and restores silky touch.

Protection: Water (hydrated skin) helps guard against Ultraviolet rays, chemicals and environmental conditions that can considerably damage skin cells and affect their ability to function properly. Think of it as a “moisture cushion.”

Nourishment: Minerals found in water help new skin cells to thrive.

Anti-aging support: As you grow older, the moisture level, elasticity and resolution of your skin can decrease radically, causing wrinkles and spots.

Water is the conduit that provides the moisture and nourishment your skin needs to help prevent the appearance of early aging. At the same time staying underwater or soaked in a bathtub too much causes your skin to wrinkle. The reason behind it is that the water washes off the sebum (an oily substance) produced in the epidermis. Sebum actually blocks water from entering the skin. But it is washed off when you stay in the water too much and then absorbing water through skin starts. Without sebum, water penetrates the skin causing it to swell. But it is not a big issue to worry about; because once the absorbed water evaporates, the skin that has been wrinkled by water goes back to its normal form.

Skin conditions that can mimic acne.

January 23rd, 2009 No comments

By: Daniel Les
Did you know that shifting to healthful diet as natural treatment is better than artificially prepared ones? If you are born rich you have better access to highly endorsed medications that work best to a particular health or skin condition. You can also counter the growing number and worsening condition of acne through natural or alternative treatments. Should you wait until the inflammation of you hair follicle and your face is completely covered by acne? Of course not! Try to be conscious of the food you in-take. You may start to read books about healthy diet so that you would be oriented about which food should you watch out. Some chitchat with your personal doctor could be a big help. You may be advised not to eat much of processed food and always include servings of fruit and vegetables in your daily meals. If you can do away with refined sugar, do so because that is not healthfully good for you. Never eat food that is deeply fried because that would only aggravate your glands over production of oil. Do not consume much carbonated beverages, caffeine, chocolate, milk products, shellfish, etc. Develop a water therapy through drinking 8-9 glasses of water every day.

Did you know that you can never wash your acne away? Many people suggest that teenagers or anybody with oily skin, to use hot water, a washcloth, and a drying soap in order to wash their acne away. Is there indeed a possibility for anyone to get rid of his/her acne after washing the face ten times a day? According to experts the appearance of acne has nothing to do with cleanliness. The truth is that washing removes oils from the surface of the skin, not from within the plugged ducts. In addition, adults can certainly suffer from both acne and dry skin. In fact, if youre too aggressive in your quest for cleanliness, you may very well end up drying out or irritating the sensitive skin on your face. A person needs to have a balanced oil production in the body. There are people however whose oil production is above the normal condition. So, what is their best treatment? They may wash their face three times a day or whenever they feel like that they have been too exposed to dust and dirt. They need not totally eliminate the presence of oil in their skin because that will lead to dry skin, which is another worse skin problem.

Did you know of todays arsenal treatments for acne? Nowadays, through different studies and medical discoveries, acne is never something to be embarrassed for a lifetime because with the proper medication it can easily be treated and eventually removed. Because of the wide array of medical treatments for acne, a patient can select the best one that can help remove his or her acne. Todays topical arsenal treatments include topical and oral antibiotics and a class of medications called retinoids. The revolutionized acne treatment which has been applied to the skin is in the retinoids. Isotretinoin (Acutane), on the one hand is taken orally. A woman who is pregnant should not take isotretinoin because it has been shown to cause birth defects. This acne is considered as a last-ditch treatment, but its especially effective for cystic acne. One course of this treatment is generally enough. The arsenal treatments have been widely recommended by dermatologists and proven effective for treating the acne-prone body areas. There are new medications and treatment forms for acne which are being introduced almost every year. As long as there is an acne patient, more formulas for acne treatment are being done by different dermatological clinics. In fact, there are walk-in salespersons that are roaming around and selling different medications.

Did you know when you must see a dermatologist? People, whose nature of work is focused on socialization, become over conscious of how they look. Usually, when acne starts to develop, most of the acne patients are bothered and wanting for effective treatments. So, some of them consult for dermatologists advice especially if they hardly can relieve the discomforts of acne condition. Who wants to just stay around and grieve over the bigheads of his or her acne rather than staying with friends? Life is meant to be enjoyed and not to be wasted through dallying in a corner. A piece of advice from a dermatologist can help you find a solution on how to stay away from the inflammation of your clogged pores. Do not let your acne hinder your lifestyle and put you on a big embarrassing dilemma; some chitchat with your friendly dermatologist can enlighten you of how you can confidently counter the formation and worsening of the acne conditions. Some teenagers who are just building up their identity are scared to face their friends, especially if their facial skin is almost covered by acne. What must they do before they develop low self-esteem and anti-social behavior? They must pay a visit to their dermatologist so that they could be advised and given medications.

Did you know that youve got to treat your acne before its effects becomes skin deep and lasting? Nowadays, almost everybody becomes erudite of what acne is and its worse consequence to the psychological and social state of a growing person. There are individuals who have not shelled out from their own world of anti-socialism and solitude, because when they were growing up, they were swallowed up by the embarrassment to show their real face value. A teenager usually has his or her imaginary audience whom s/he believes applies to everyone whom s/he is mingling with. The teenagers whose faces are almost covered by acne can hardly socialize in schools or outdoors because of low self-image. Sometimes, they tend to become masochistic because they feel as though they are not in to their circles. The parents of these growing teens must be sensitive enough because psychologically the latter have to overcome their ill-feeling about their image and win over their anxiety toward their bad self-projection. They need to win over their confidence and have to be aware that they there is a wide range of solutions for their acne condition. The adults, on the one hand, who poorly have outgrown their psychosocial problem that is caused by their inherited worse acne condition, experience an almost skin deep insecurity especially whenever they have to hunt for job. Do not wait until you or your child becomes aloof because of you or your childs skin condition. Anyway, acne has become too common that treatments have become widespread and available anywhere.

Routine face care tips

January 21st, 2009 No comments

By: S.F. Imtiaz143 S.F. Imtiaz143
CLEANSING: It must be carried out every day - evening and morning and every time new make-up is applied in daytime. The cleansing lotion used for cleansing, just like face creams, must be chosen considering the type of complexion. Women who wear makeup carry out a routine of cleansing, toning and moistening turn back the clock each evening, as well as washing the face in the morning. Take 5 minutes to remove old make-up and the grime and grease that have been accumulated during the day.

The traditional way to do it is to start with the cleansing of the lips, with circular moves, then cleansing of the eyes which require a cleansing lotion rich in emollients if it is the case of an obvious make-up. First remove the mascara from the eye-lashes with a well moisturized swab and, after that, using other swabs the eye-lids will be softly cleansed with circular moves. For a deep cleansing, the cleansing lotion s evenly spread on the face and neck with soft upwards moves on the face and up-and-down moves on the neck. To make the job easier keep your hair off your face.

Pour a little face cleansing cream into the palm of one hand and dab it over the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks but remember use two fingers of the other hand. Massage the cream into the skin, starting under the throat, using a gentle upward motion. Gently massage the cream from the eyes to the nose and to the forehead. Massage cream back over the chin, which is particularly prone to blackheads. Use the index finger. Now remove the cream from the face with tissue pads in each hand. Start under the chin and work over the cheeks and on to the forehead.

TONING: Toning lotions are needed for every type of skin even for dry complexion. Toners remove all traces of dirt, make-up or cleanser that remain after cleansing and stimulate the biologic functions of the skin and activate blood circulation, working simultaneously as a tonic on the facial muscles. Immediately after cleansing apply toner to the forehead and cheeks on a pad of wool. Apply the toner to the crevices around the nose and to the crevices around the chin. After cleansing and toning the skin, it is necessary to nourish it.

MOISTURIZING: It is needed to make skin smooth and supple. The face is exposed to the drying effect of the weather, so moisturizers which form a film over the skin contain and augment the natural moisture. Dab moisturizing cream lightly all over the face using index fingers. Press the fingers of both hands into the centre of the forehead and work the cream slowly outwards. Pat the cream gently around the eyes, then around the jaw line, chin and mouth with the middle fingers of both hands.

Usually, the moisturizers that protect the skin are applied mornings once the cleansing and toning of the skin are done. It is also recommended to apply a fine layer of powder, especially in case of an oily complexion, due to its absorptive and protective action.
