CLEANSING: It must be carried out every day - evening and morning and every time new make-up is applied in daytime. The cleansing lotion used for cleansing, just like face creams, must be chosen considering the type of complexion. Women who wear makeup carry out a routine of cleansing, toning and moistening turn back the clock each evening, as well as washing the face in the morning. Take 5 minutes to remove old make-up and the grime and grease that have been accumulated during the day.

The traditional way to do it is to start with the cleansing of the lips, with circular moves, then cleansing of the eyes which require a cleansing lotion rich in emollients if it is the case of an obvious make-up. First remove the mascara from the eye-lashes with a well moisturized swab and, after that, using other swabs the eye-lids will be softly cleansed with circular moves. For a deep cleansing, the cleansing lotion s evenly spread on the face and neck with soft upwards moves on the face and up-and-down moves on the neck. To make the job easier keep your hair off your face.

Pour a little face cleansing cream into the palm of one hand and dab it over the nose, chin, forehead and cheeks but remember use two fingers of the other hand. Massage the cream into the skin, starting under the throat, using a gentle upward motion. Gently massage the cream from the eyes to the nose and to the forehead. Massage cream back over the chin, which is particularly prone to blackheads. Use the index finger. Now remove the cream from the face with tissue pads in each hand. Start under the chin and work over the cheeks and on to the forehead.

TONING: Toning lotions are needed for every type of skin even for dry complexion. Toners remove all traces of dirt, make-up or cleanser that remain after cleansing and stimulate the biologic functions of the skin and activate blood circulation, working simultaneously as a tonic on the facial muscles. Immediately after cleansing apply toner to the forehead and cheeks on a pad of wool. Apply the toner to the crevices around the nose and to the crevices around the chin. After cleansing and toning the skin, it is necessary to nourish it.

MOISTURIZING: It is needed to make skin smooth and supple. The face is exposed to the drying effect of the weather, so moisturizers which form a film over the skin contain and augment the natural moisture. Dab moisturizing cream lightly all over the face using index fingers. Press the fingers of both hands into the centre of the forehead and work the cream slowly outwards. Pat the cream gently around the eyes, then around the jaw line, chin and mouth with the middle fingers of both hands.

Usually, the moisturizers that protect the skin are applied mornings once the cleansing and toning of the skin are done. It is also recommended to apply a fine layer of powder, especially in case of an oily complexion, due to its absorptive and protective action.

Before you start using any acne treatment or medication, it would be helpful to understand what acne is and how it develops, and your particular acne condition. Visit your doctor or a dermatologist and get their opinion, this can improve your acne treatment success. Many people buy over-the-counter acne medications, without ever knowing what it does or what acne and skin condition it helps.
Acne is the most common skin disorder that has left millions of individuals looking for an effective acne treatment. Since this skin disorder affects a wide range of people, both young and adult, acne researchers are constantly working towards a better acne treatment that can cure acne caused by several skin disorders, so far there is no such product that would work for everyone.
A significant point to consider in looking for your acne treatment is the different approaches to acne control. Two of the major acne medications that are used in over the counter and prescription acne treatment products are benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid and each treats your acne differently. Benzoyl peroxide is an antibacterial agent. Acne products with different concentration of benzoyl peroxide are used to kill P. Acnes which is the bacteria that causes acne. On the other hand Salicylic acid is an exfoliant that works inside the follicle, it slow down the shedding of skin cells which can clog the follicle and cause acne. Both of these acne treatment products may affect your skin type differently so a dermatologists opinion is highly suggested to make the right choice. Many Modern acne treatment are now consists of an acne kit, which consist of several products and are used together as a regiment to control acne. Most acne kits include a cleanser, a face wash, a topical gel or cream with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide in it and a lotion to rehydrate and decrease irritation to the skin. Usually either benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid is added to one or more of these products with other acne fighting ingredients. These are designed to remove excess oil, while not drying out your skin completely. All in all, these acne medications are designed to give you healthier skin.
After you have selected the acne treatment with the help of your dermatologists opinion, before you’re going to use, one good practice of thumb is to only wash the affected area twice each day or as recommended by your dermatologist. Being aggressive with your skin and washing it again and again several times through the day to get rid of acne quickly can irritate the skin and make the condition worse. If you keep this basic information in mind and follow doctors advice daily treating your acne would be a lot easier than doing it in a disorganized manner.
No matter what acne treatment you choose for your skin condition, you cannot expect instant results. Most products would require at least four to six weeks before you notice a significant enhancement. Some take more, others may take a little less time but four to six weeks is the average time, and if you do not notice any improvement at all in this time then maybe it is time to try a different product.

What is Acne and How to Treat it

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: IC
There are many ways to define what acne really is by describing the physical characteristics of skin suffers of such condition. In a nutshell, acne is a very common skin disease which is directly related to the pores and sebaceous glands, the characteristics associated with it are skin redness and inflammation.

The social consequences of having acne can be overwhelming especially for teenagers who may also suffer from depression and may feel inadequate around other people. Even though this condition is mostly seen between teenagers they can also extend all the way through adulthood which may affect a person’s personal and professional life.

Treating the problem as soon as it appears can be your winning card when it comes to fighting this skin disease but, not everyone knows how to properly, the first reaction to a visible pimple is to try to squeeze it in order to expel the bacteria which is building up inside, while this quick reasoning might be logic it actually makes things worse because the sebum is pushed deeper within the skin which tends to trigger even worse flareups.

There are many products use in order to treat acne, some of them are:

– Topical Antibiotics:
These are externally applied and are meant to kill bacteria that may be harbored within the skin follicles, but there is one of the main reasons why inflammations occur so eliminating and this factor will help decrease the amount of bumps or pimples that are created by them.

– Hormonal Treatments:
These are procedures aimed at adult women, it has been noticed that reducing the androgenic hormone levels can have a positive effect when it comes to fighting acne, a product which can help achieve this effect is called Diane 35 or Dianette, while Diane 35 is available in the US a newer oral contraceptive which contains progestin drospirenone is able to provide the same effects of Diane 35 but without the side effects.

– Oral Antibiotics:
These products are normally very heavy in tetracycline antibiotics that are meant to reduce “P. acnes” bacteria as well as excessive oil secretion and to control a normal cell behavior however, this form of treatment is becoming less and less effective because resistant “P. acnes” are becoming more common.

There are several other ways to treat acne by applying products such as: topical bactericidals, topical retinoids, oral retinoids and even resorting to phototherapy which includes photodynamic therapy and laser treatment.

Can Stress Cause Acne?

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: S.F. Imtiaz143 S.F. Imtiaz143
The cosmetic markets have constantly been booming for over a decade now with numerous beauty products. Many such products contain chemicals that sometime are not good for your skin health. One popular skin disorder that a lot of people are concern about is acne. There are lots of causes of acne and different people have acne due to different causes and this fact has also been the reason of many myths that are associated with acne
If you are not aware of your particular skin type and the medications that are good for your skin type and the myths about acne than you are in danger of causing more damage to your skin instead of getting rid of acne. Since most people cannot differentiate between what is truth and whats just another acne myth when they begin treating their acne, so they end up wasting a lot of their time and money on products and medications that either dont work at all or are not good for their particular skin type. An idea that is widely believed to be a myth is the effect of stress on acne and skin disorder.

Can acne actually occur due to stress? There are plenty of evidences that suggest that stress can most surely cause acne or make an existing skin condition worse. Our bodies are highly developed chemical laboratories that produce all sorts of stuff.
A study was conducted at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Though it was a small study, with a sample size of only 22 students suffering from acne, the professors conducted the study conclusively proved that the exam stress worsened acne in these students.

Our body starts to generate a great quantity of male hormones at puberty. This excess production of male hormones can also occur at other times in life except puberty; for example, when woman starts or stops taking birth control pills.

This overproduction of male hormones causes the sebaceous glands of our bodies to shift into overdrive and begin producing excess sebum. The sebum then clogs the pores and begins the acne development cycle. Male hormones are not the only cause for the sebaceous glands to begin overproducing sebum. Whenever we are exceedingly stressed or too emotional, our bodies respond by causing the adrenal glands to create a matter known as Cortisol, which travels straight into the bloodstream. Then the chemical chain reaction continues as the sebaceous glands release sebum, the sebum in turn clogs the pores and acne develops.

The physical changes in the body have the tendency to cause exactly the same chemical chain reaction as the emotional changes in the mind. There is a possibility that your acne is only an outward sign of an internal problem. Reduction in stress shall naturally reduce excess sebum production by the sebaceous glands and reduction in sebum production will help to lessen an acne breakout. Therefore, if you can reduce and control you stress level, you will be able to see your skin getting healthy in very small period of time.

Basically reducing stress level is actually restoring a hormonal balance in your body and that will help reduce production of sebum. So to sum it up this factor should be address apart from using medication to manipulate the excessive sebum production. This way of fighting acne can help in eliminating the problem effectively.

10 Easy and Natural Ways to Get Rid of Acne

January 13th, 2009 No comments

By: Nicholas Ahern
Are you looking for acne solutions that really work? The good news is, whether you’re a teenager or an adult suffering from acne, you don’t have to live with it. Here you can find 10 super easy and effective ways to get rid of acne.

1. Do not pick, press or rub your pimples. These actions actually increase the sebum production and rupture the membranes below your skin. The infection and sebum will spread underneath your skin and cause more pimples. Also, you risk increasing the chances of leaving scars on your face.

2. Wash your face twice a day using a mild soup. It is even better if you can buy sulfur-based soap especially for acne. If your skin is too oily, use a soap with benzoyl peroxide. Do not use rough sponges, brushes, or anything similar on your face. You shouldn’t, however, over-wash your face because it will actually stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum which will increase your acne.

3. Check if it is because of the food. For many people, food allergy can cause very serious acne condition. You should avoid eating too much oily and spicy food. Recent studies have shown that acne can also be caused by milk which contains hormones as well as seafood with relatively high levels of iodine. If possible, cut down on those foods. Other foods you may consider avoiding are: sugar, dairy products, deep-fried food, meat, nut butters, etc. On the other hand, it is believed that green vegetables, vegetable fuices and foods rich in zinc can help alleviate acne condition.

4. Drink more water every day. “Eight glasses of water a day can keep acne away.” says Jennifer Thoden, a respected acne expert. The reason is that water can carry waste material out of our body and it really helps heal and prevent acne flare-ups.

5. Do not wear makeup if possible. Makeup products can clog your pores, cause more blackheads and pimples. If you have to wear makeup, make sure it is water-based. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes regularly and cleanse your skin before you sleep.

6. Do not use oily products. Avoid products such as hair pomades, intense oil-based facial moisturizers, and oily cleansers.

7. Keep your face clean. Do not rest your chin on your hands or constantly touch your face. Regular shampoo your hair and keep it off your face, especially when you sleep.

8. Exercise moderately as it helps in blood circulation and eliminataion of toxins.

9. Stay stress-free. Studies have shown that stress not only worsens acne flare-up, it also worsens the overall skin condition. Talk to your friends, listen to your favorite music, or take a walk in the park. There are many things you can do to be stree free.

10. Get Sunshine and fresh air. Sunshine stimulates vitamin D in the body, an essential vitamin for healthy skin. Fresh air and sunshine can also reduce stress (tip #9) and increase oxygen to the skin. Don’t get burnt in the sun though. Burnt and heavily tanned skin forms a layer on the skin that doesn’t exfoliate quickly enough and can lead to blocked pores.
