Southern Miss Golden Eagles tickets - McKee a Rock Solid Right Tackle
By: Gen Wright
Ryan McKee has been at the forefront of providing a lot of firepower to the Southern Miss team.
Ryan McKee, the Spanish Fort, Ala native has been one of the popular players in the Southern Miss lineup. He has been having an incredible last couple of seasons, and in 2008, he has been having a dream run at that with his performance. The only glitch in what seemed to be an otherwise glittering year, McKee let a sack slip by.
In the match up against Central Florida, where Southern Miss emerged victors 17-6, Ryan allowed a Central defender to breach his sack. McKee has introspected on that slip, and attributes that to poor technique. He surely did have some sleepless nights over that slip, but everything related to that miss seems to be over, as Ryan prepares for the games ahead.
If Coach Larry Fedora has to be believed, Ryan McKee surely is not a guy on whom one would need to spend a lot of time discussing. Weighing 300 pounds and standing 66 tall, he is one player who is almost everywhere on the playing field. He is aggressive and tackles his opponents rather furiously. No wonder why Ryan McKee has got so many sacks against his name with very few misses.
McKees career started to take a turn for good with his sophomore seasons. McKee feels that playing in a team as a sophomore was an excellent initiation for him. It was this season that taught him a lot of tricks of the trade, and McKee now is considered being one of the best players in this domain.
December 21, 2008, when Southern Miss take on field at the Louisiana Superdrome, Ryan would be making his 40th start. And a consecutive start at that! If that is not enough proof for credentials of a player, then what is! McKee has had tremendous success under old coach, Jeff Bower. But with Jeffs exit and the entry of the new coach Fedora, a lot of questions were asked by a lot of players.
McKee, to his credit, put things behind, and turned on sack after sack. Soon enough, he along with his group of offensive linemen established a reputation of being fearsome and merciless. Earning the coachs and the oppositions respect is not an easy thing to do, but Ryan McKee definitely has earned that and more.
Plans ahead for Ryan McKee! Surely, if he continues in the same vein, an NFL cap does not seem too far away from him. Coach Fedora feels the same way. Ask McKee and he would tell you that he is targeting the NFL Cap and has high ambitions of capping one. He has though kept his options open. If the NFL Cap does not work out, he would get back to his Business Management studies.
That really would be a shame as the world would miss out on some of the exciting prowess of Ryan McKee. The aggressive play style of Ryan McKee is something that opponents fear coming their way, but spectators do not!
