January 30th, 2009 No comments

By: Alice Campbell
You should forget about the days when your appearance was not important. They are gone for good and you should pay more attention to the way you look. And you should start by taking a closer look at your teeth and decide whether you need Laser Bleaching or not. This type of cosmetic procedure can make the difference for the way your smile looks. You are likely to be defined by your smile and you should become perfectly aware of this. Actually, you should know that you must become perfect in every single detail of your body. Therefore, the way your teeth look is of paramount importance especially if you want to impress the people around you.

You must stay away from having a yellow or discolored smile. Therefore, you should start thinking about having the Teeth Whitening procedure because this is the next best thing for the way you feel about your natural teeth. You must not be frustrated with your dentistry problems; on the contrary, you should make a wise choice and pick the Laser Bleaching that is right for you. Having a perfect and shinny smile has never been so easy and you should take full advantage of all the revolutionary methods that are available in the cosmetic surgery.

There are plenty of methods you should consider when it comes to making your teeth look better and healthier. For instance, you can choose special toothpaste that can have a whitening effect or you can have the Laser Bleaching that can provide you with long lasting effects in no time. Such procedures are not expensive and you will not have to ruin yourself in order to have the perfect smile. For instance, there are plenty of dentists who are likely to recommend you the constant use of special toothpaste in order to get rid of the stains and whiten your teeth.

Still, you should be aware that this method is not likely to provide you with long lasting effects. The chemical Teeth Whitening is more reliable but, if you are interested in obtaining instant results, you should choose the Laser Bleaching because this procedure could be the perfect solution for all your dentistry problems. Impressive results will be provided and you are going to be very satisfied with the way your teeth will look after the procedure. This type of bleaching is based on a concentrated and thick gel that is applied right on your teeth. This gel will be activated by using a focusing argon laser and all your dental stains will be removed for good. The enamel of your teeth will look shinier and healthier. You will be provided with whiter and stain free teeth and you are going to be pleased with what you are going to see in the mirror.

One of the main reasons why you should use the professional Laser Bleaching is the fact that this procedure is a one time treatment and you will not have to pay another visit to your dentist for a long period of time. The chemical Teeth Whitening can require many sittings but the laser procedure is going to save your time and money by providing yourself with the opportunity to have your teeth whitened in just one session. The results of the Laser Bleaching are long lasting when compared to other results that can be found in the case of the traditional teeth whitening.

Therefore, you should not wait anymore. On the contrary, you should go online and find a reputable dentist who can help you to get rid of all your dentistry problems by using this revolutionary method. So, you must get rid of the yellow teeth you have and start impressing the people around you with the perfect and shinny smile. Once the chosen laser bleaching results to the desired and expected whiteness of your teeth, you will have to maintain this condition about every 7 months to one year. But you have to become aware that, if you continue smoking, using the wrong dentistry products, taking in tea and coffee and consuming other food and drinks that may leave noticeable stains on the teeth, your teeth will turn dark in a gradual manner. Therefore, you will have to take care of the shinny and unstained look that can be provided by the laser technology in order to prolong the wanted effects.

Heart Burn: The most common symptom of acid reflux is heart burn. In such case there is a burn sensation in you throat and neck due to backward traveling of food items. The Power of Natural Alternative Medicine - Part 1

January 30th, 2009 No comments

By: Arthor Pens
The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human body, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”…Thomas Edison, 1902.

We have many different options for healthcare today, but the focus will be on biologically based treatments and prevention. The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) defines the scope of biologically based practices to include, but is not limited to, botanicals, animal-derived extracts, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, prebiotics and probiotics, whole diets, and functional foods.

But first, let’s take a look at the different philosophies of healthcare practiced today. Allopathic, alternative, complementary, integrative-what does it all mean? Each includes many different kinds of therapies, and although alternative, complementary and integrative are sometimes used interchangeably, the general focus of each is different.

Allopathic medicine focuses on disease and the treatment of the physical body with drugs and surgery. These are conventional physicians with the title of M.D. that are universally recognized as having a medical degree.

Alternative medicine includes those therapies not generally recommended by allopathic physicians. It includes Energy Medicine, Ethnomedicine, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Homeopathic Medicine, Botanical or Herbal Medicine, Bio molecular Medicine, Manual Medicine, Spiritual Medicine.

Complementary medicine includes therapies used by both alternative and allopathic physicians. It includes Exercise Medicine, Environmental Medicine, Social Medicine, Nutritional Medicine.

Integrative medicine is the attempt to integrate the many philosophies of medicine, allopathic, complementary, and alternative, to treat the whole person, physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual.

Many people are hesitant about trusting their healthcare to anyone other than an allopathic physician. But did you know that Naturopathic Medical Doctors are the only physicians who receive complete training in conventional medicine as well as natural medicine? Licensed Naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D./N.D.) attend a four-year graduate level Naturopathic medical school where they are educated in all of the same basic sciences as a conventional M.D. In addition to this training, they are extensively educated in the philosophy and implementation of safe and effective natural therapeutics with a strong emphasis on disease prevention. Unfortunately, some states do not yet offer licensing for Naturopathic Doctors.

Allopathic physicians and pharmaceutical drugs are, and always will be, necessary for acute, emergency medical care and trauma, as well as for conditions that cannot be controlled with lifestyle changes, good nutrition and supplements. But many conditions can be prevented and controlled with lifestyle changes and biologically based medicine. Just as many pharmaceutical drugs can interact with other drugs, some biologically based supplements may interact with drugs and cause side effects, so a healthcare provider should always be consulted before adding supplements to the diet. In some cases, alternative therapy may actually have beneficial synergistic effects in conjunction with existing medical therapy, even when not feasible as a replacement.

Biologically based medicine is not new. It was practiced for thousands of years before pharmaceutical companies began manufacturing the first synthetic drugs. In addition, many of the pharmaceutical preparations used around the world are based on plants. As late as the 1930’s, the formulation of about 80% of synthetic pharmaceutical drugs began with a natural compound. Today, about 25% of prescription drugs contain active ingredients derived from plants.

The United States has the most advanced medical system in the world, yet the population is increasingly turning to natural healing methods. However, the U.S. still lags behind world stats. A survey of 31,000 U.S. adults conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics in 2004 showed that 35 percent use some form of complementary and alternative medicine. Today, the World Health Organization estimates that herbal medicine is still the primary source of health care for approximately 80 percent of the world’s population.

Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. These diseases and other chronic diseases such as obesity, depression, metabolic and digestive disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and fibroids, account for 7 of every 10 deaths and affect the quality of life of 90 million Americans. Chronic diseases are among the most prevalent and most costly, yet they are the most preventable.

Conventional physicians treat chronic diseases with expensive pharmaceuticals that may temporarily relieve the painful or uncomfortable symptoms, but the drugs do nothing to resolve the underlying cause, and may actually cause other side effects and serious problems. Because nutrition affects our immune system, organ function, hormonal balance and cellular metabolism, many of these chronic conditions and diseases can be traced to a nutrition deficiency. When the deficiency is not corrected, symptoms begin to appear and eventually lead to disease and premature aging.

Many pharmaceuticals can effectively be replaced with multi vitamin supplements, botanicals, amino acids, prebiotics and probiotics, fresh foods and functional foods for both prevention and treatment. Because herbs work synergistically, combinations of herbs with similar properties enhance the properties of each. This is why choosing a product containing a combination of different herbs is usually more effective than choosing individual selections. An example of this is the combination of valerian, passion flower and hops to promote relaxation and restful sleep. All three have a relaxing effect on the body. Valerian relaxes muscle tension, while hops relaxes the nervous system, and passiflora acts as a sedative. Popular alternative medicine company Melaleuca even offers a product called RestEZ that offers a supplement that contains all three natural sleep enhancers: valerian, passion flower and hops.

In part two of The Power of Natural Alternative Medicine we will discuss the regulation of nutritional supplements and little known history of natural medicine.

About Sagging Skin and Getting Rid of Wrinkles

January 29th, 2009 No comments

By: Sam
Wrinkles are the creased, thin and sagging skin that is especially noticeable on the neck, hands and face. Most wrinkles appear on the parts of the body where’re biggest sun exposure. These include the face, neck, the backs of the hands, and the tops of the forearms. There’s not a magic age when everyone suddenly gets wrinkles. Some people in their 20s have little wrinkles around their eyes from squinting or spending too much time in the sun. Skin wrinkles typically appear as a result of aging processes such as glycation or, temporarily, as the result of prolonged immersion in water. Wrinkling in skin is caused by habitual facial expressions, smoking, aging, sun damage, poor hydration and various other factors. The hair and nails also change with aging, including hair loss, graying of the hair, and brittleness of the nails. Dry skin with weak elastin and collagen will sag, wrinkle and shrivel. The skin around the eyelids, neck and jaw is especially thin, and therefore more naturally prone to aging.

Heat, wind, chemicals and the natural effects of aging cause a certain amount of wrinkling for everyone. Exposure to ultraviolet light, UVB or UVA, from sunlight accounts for 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging. The dermis has an elastic quality thanks to fibers (called elastin) that keep the skin looking and feeling young. A protein in the dermis called collagen also plays a part in preventing wrinkles. Changes in the epidermis caused by the sun include thinning of the epidermis and the growth of skin lesions such as basal cell carcinomas, actinic keratoses, and squamous cell carcinomas. Sunlight damages collagen fibers and causes the accumulation of abnormal elastin. When this sun-induced elastin accumulates, enzymes (called metalloproteinases) are produced in large quantities. Habitual facial expressions cause the skin to wrinkle as it looses elasticity.

Products and treatments, including anti-aging creams, promising to remove, reduce or prevent age-related wrinkles are big business in many industrialized countries. Vitamin A Acid has the longest track record of success in treating aging skin and fine lines. Creams which contain tretinoin must be used on an ongoing basis. They may produce redness and peeling at first, but discomfort can usually be minimized by lowering the cream’s concentration or applying it less often until the skin gets used to it. Alpha-hydroxy acids are so-called “fruit acids” include glycolic and lactic acid. Antioxidants include preparations that contain the vitamins A, C, and E, as well as beta-carotene. Such creams may provide a certain amount of sun protection as well as mild improvement of fine wrinkles. Stay out of the sun as much as possible in order to minimize skin wrinkling.

Ways to get rid from wrinkles:

1. Use your fingers upwards from the lower of your eyes to the sides of the forehead; it relives the stress from the facial muscles.

2. Tap the face slowly and lightly with the fingertips to increase the blood circulation.

3. Stroke your chin in upward motions using both your thumbs. It helps reducing the double chin.

4. Breathing should be proper while doing any of the workouts no matter whether.

5. Blow off air from mouth as you are filling air in a balloon, it’s a helpful exercise in filling the flat cheeks.

6. Close your lips, take your mouth in the left and then in the right. Practice it 3-4 times.

7. There are some lightweight, battery operated equipments are available in the market to use for facial exercises.

8. Making a smiling face and then holding it for few second and releasing it are as good exercise for the cheeks.

What to do before You Have Breast Cancer Symptoms

January 29th, 2009 No comments

By: Rudy Silva
Breast cancer is a major health concern and you need to know if you have breast cancer symptoms or signs. Women including men have breast cancer as I wrote in my last newsletter. According to the recent survey worldwide, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer and the fifth most common cause of cancer death in the world.
Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer among women. The number of cases worldwide has significantly increased since the 1970s, a phenomenon partly blamed on the way that we eat and the pollution that exists in the water, air, and food. The other big factor in cancer is the thoughts that we have. Toxins and chemical pollution cause acid and free radicals in our body and so do negative thoughts. It is these acids and free radicals that change your bodys pH and that depletes the oxygen in your cells allowing cancer to form freely and to multiple. To protect yourself against cancer, you need to know the signs of breast cancer so you can take action against it right away and to learn good nutritional habits.
Due to the high incidence of breast cancer among older women, screening is now recommended in many countries. Recommended screening methods include breast self-examination and mammogram. This test has been estimated to reduce breast cancer-related mortality by 20-30%. Routine and annual mammography of women older than age 40 or 50 is recommended.
Mammograms do not detect all possible cancer tissue. They can detect micro calcification of calcium, which might indicate the presents of cancer. Calcium can deposit in tissue and this is caused by an acid body. To stay in solution, calcium must have enough sodium in the surrounding liquid. In an alkaline body, there is plenty of sodium to keep calcium in solution, but in an acid body, calcium will precipate out and form crystals.
Early signs and symptoms of breast cancer are usually not painful. This may be the reason why most women dont know they have breast cancer until after several breast cancer signs and symptoms start to appear. You should see your health care provider, if you notice the following:
Lump in the armpit or above the collarbone that does not go away in two weeks or so. Although most breast lumps are not cancerous, it always best to check them out

Breast discharge is a common problem and is rarely a symptom of cancer, but if it is from only one breast or if it is bloody, then check with your doctor

Nipple inversion is a common in normal nipples, but nipple inversion that has developed recently can be of concern

Changes in the breast skin including redness, changes in texture, and puckering. These changes are usually caused by skin diseases but occasionally can be associated with breast cancer.
Breast cancer is a condition where you lack oxygen in your cells and when you have an acid body. To prevent cancer from forming, you need to learn how to make your body more alkaline. In my new nutrition course, I concentrate on how you can make your body more alkaline. An alkaline body not only stops cancer but also stops and prevents most diseases from forming in your body.
Dont wait until you have symptoms of breast cancer or any other disease before you start improving your health habits. Start now learning what good nutrition is and how you can be free from illness.

Drug Rehab: Signs and Symptoms of Addiction

January 29th, 2009 No comments

By: Marlon Dirk
A person is said to have a drug addiction problem when he or she has this compulsive urge to use the drugs. Moreover this urge is so great that the person is not bothered about the physical consequence of the drug or the psychological and emotional effects. But other problems in the person’s life could complicate the matter and effectively disguise or hide the symptoms. Therefore one should be able to differentiate them. There are a number of signs and symptoms you could be looking out for to determine whether someone in your family or someone dear to you has a drug addiction problem.

The foremost symptom of drug addiction is the firm belief of the user on his or her inability to actually function without taking the drug. The person simply succumbs to this urge to take the drug. The user takes the drug regularly and tends to take the drugs more than what is necessary in due course of time. The dosage tends to increase.

A typical characteristic of an addict is when their whole life begins to revolve around getting the next ‘fix’. They typically lose interests in other things that they used to be interested before. They tend to disregard and ignore their work, hobbies, family and friends. Their life centers on getting their next dose of their chosen drug. Nothing else seem important to them.

Another characteristic feature of addiction is the mood swings experienced by the user. They are either very high or really so miserably low. Often the behavior of the user defies logic and comprehension. They tend to lose their temper. They do things which they would otherwise not be doing in the normal course.

The drug takes a heavy toll on the body of the user in course of time. They show up soon enough. They tend to become emaciated losing weight. They become pale. Their eyes lose color becoming dull. They lose interest in taking care of their body such as taking regular bath or combing hair. They may often be having sores on their body which too they ignore. They tend to be lethargic looking lost as though sapped of all energy and interest.

With the continued and regular use of the drug, the body gets used to the drug in the system. Soon the body accepts the drug and the acceptance level builds up. This makes the person to keep on increasing the dosage of the drug to get the same effect.

The drug addiction makes the user to distance themselves from others. They prefer to be alone or keep aloof. They avoid gatherings of any sort. The alienation that they experience makes them emotionally remote. All these are to make taking a fix all the more easier without the guarded restraint from others. As a result, they tend to lose the care that they had earlier enjoyed.

Drug addiction leads to the onset of depression. The withdrawal from activities, a pessimistic attitude and a sense of despair shows up in all spheres of the life of the user. Their performance in work takes a sudden dip. They show a tendency to remain in bed for long periods sleeping.

Addiction to drugs is to be understood as another affliction. If the signs and symptoms of addiction are seen in some one you care about, then you know that it is time to seek treatment. It is time that the cure is sought and assistance organized.

The Problems Of High Blood Pressure And Sex

January 29th, 2009 No comments

By: Donald Saunders
The vast majority of people who are suffering from high blood pressure will experience very few if any symptoms at all, but the effect which this condition can have on your sex life is often significant and if you begin to experience signs of sexual difficulty then this could be the sounding of a warning bell.

One of the effects of high blood pressure is to damage the lining of your blood vessels and to cause hardening of your arteries so that your heart is forced to work harder to pump blood around your body. This in turn raises the pressure in your arteries. In addition, the damage caused to your arteries results in a general reduction in the flow of blood throughout your body.

As far as men are concerned this general reduction in blood flow also means a reduction in the flow of blood to the penis and difficulty in both achieving and then maintaining an erection. It also means that, even when you are able to achieve and maintain an erection, high blood pressure can create further problems when it comes to ejaculation.

For the majority of men the appearance of the first signs of any form of sexual dysfunction is very worrying and leads to concern that, having happened for the first time, the problem might well re-appear. This in turn leads some men to avoid sex so that not only does the event cause them distress, but it also often generates problems in their relationship with their sexual partner.

In the case of women the effect of high blood pressure is not quite as clearly defined and, at this time, has not been very well researched. What we do know however is that high blood pressure causes a lower flow of blood to the vagina, leading to lower sexual desire and arousal, vaginal dryness and problems in achieving orgasm.

As in the case of men, the vast majority of women find this event very worrying and they will again shy away from sex, putting their relationship with their sexual partner under strain.

There are of course a variety of different reasons for the appearance of sexual dysfunction and some are far easier to overcome than others. However, sexual problems arising because of high blood pressure are surprisingly common and, on the whole, quite easy to treat. The real problem lies in recognizing the cause of the problem in the first place.

The good news today is that we are far happier to talk openly about such things as sexual dysfunction with our doctors and this means that we can alert the doctor to a possible underlying blood pressure problem at an early stage so that it can not only be diagnosed but also treated, often with a range of different forms of medication.

So, if you are at all concerned, you should consult your doctor without delay and, if you are still amongst the thankfully dwindling number of people for whom this presents a problem then do not despair because nowadays it is a simple matter to check your own blood pressure using one of a number of excellent home blood pressure monitors available.
